FAQ

Common questions

Which calculator tells me the right lot size for my account?

The position size calculator answers that. You enter your account balance, the percentage you are willing to risk, your stop distance in pips and the instrument details. Because one XAU/USD pip is 0.01 and one standard lot is 100 oz, the tool converts your risk in dollars into a lot size you can actually place.

How do I work out what one pip is worth on my gold trade?

Use the pip value calculator. For XAU/USD, one pip is 0.01, so a 1.00-lot position (100 oz) moves $1 per pip, and a 0.10-lot position moves $0.10 per pip. Enter your lot size and the tool shows the naira equivalent at the prevailing rate so you can compare it with your risk budget.

What is the difference between the margin and profit calculators?

The margin calculator shows the deposit your broker blocks to open a position, which depends on lot size and the leverage cap on your account. The profit calculator shows the money you make or lose as price moves, based on entry, exit and lot size. Margin is not a cost; profit is the actual result after you close.

Can these tools tell me where to put my stop loss?

No, they size the trade around a stop you have already chosen. The pivot points calculator can help you map reference levels for the session, and you decide the stop distance from your own analysis. Then feed that distance into the position size calculator so the risk in dollars stays within your limit.

Do the calculators use the live gold price?

They use the reference price shown on the page, currently around 4275.0, and you can overwrite it with your broker's quote. Gold moves constantly, so a stale price gives a stale margin or pip value. Always re-enter the current XAU/USD price from your platform before you rely on a result.
